How to Apply for Scholarships

To keep the process simple, Southern State uses a single application designed to match you to the scholarships for which you are eligible. The online application is powered by AwardSpring Online so you will be redirected to their site. Some basic preparation tips have been offered but you may prefer a Step-By-Step Guide on how to apply.

Before you begin your online application:

  • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All 2024/2025 scholarships require that applicants file the 2024/2025 FAFSA. The online application is available at www.studentaid.gov and be sure to list Southern State's federal school code, 012870, on the application. For more information about the financial aid process, click here.
  • Have your SSCC student ID number and SSCC student email address handy.
  • Do you know your current GPA? For current college students use your college GPA. Use your high school GPA if you don't currently have earned college credits. If this is your first term at Southern State and do not have access to your high school GPA, upload a statement explaining that you don't have access to this information. Scholarships may be awarded but cannot be disbursed if the student does not meet the scholarship's GPA requirement.
  • Be prepared to answer some basic questions about your personal and professional goals and why you are choosing Southern State.
  • What if I get stuck? Please refer to the Step-By-Step Guide. If you did and you're still stuck, by all means, give us a call or drop us an email. You can reach the scholarship support team by emailing financialaid@sscc.edu or by calling 800.628.7722 x2515.
