Institutional Grants and Scholarships

In the spirit of making higher education affordable and accessible to all, Montgomery College offers the following institutional grants and scholarships. 

Merit Based Scholarships

Montgomery Scholars Scholarship - The Montgomery Scholars Program is a selective admission two-year interdisciplinary honors program designed for high school graduates as the first step in completing a four-year degree.

Board of Trustees (BOT) Scholarshipnew window – The Board of Trustees Academic Specialty Scholarship is for talented Montgomery County high school graduates who plan to enroll at any Montgomery College campus. This is a one-year scholarship that covers the full-time cost of tuition and fees at the county resident tuition rate, up to a maximum of 15 credits per semester. Requirements: 

  • 3.0 or higher weighted grade point average
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Essay questions
  • Admission to a degree program at Montgomery College

The Macklin Business Institute (MBI) Scholarship Program – The Macklin Business Institute Scholarship Program is a competitive program for students with outstanding potential and interest in the field of business. The MBI is available for high school graduates interested in applying for the two-year program and current MC students interested in the one-year sophomore level program. 

Southern Management Leadership Programnew window- is a 3-year scholarship and educational program that supports, develops, and graduates ethical leaders who want to energize and give back to their local communities. Students apply in the semester before their last year at Montgomery College. If selected, the scholarship covers 55% of tuition and fees and a book stipend at Montgomery College and up to 50% tuition at the University of Maryland College Park. 

Renaissance Scholar Honors Program – The Renaissance Scholars is a selective honors program offered in the evenings and on the weekends at the Germantown and Takoma Park/Silver Spring campuses. 

STEM Scholars Program - Montgomery College's STEM Scholars Program offers scholarships during each fall and semester. Each scholarship will cover the cost of tuition of a three-, four-, or five-credit honors class in the STEM Scholars Program at the in-county rate.

Merit and Financial Need Based Scholarships

Montgomery College Foundation Scholarships – The Montgomery College Foundation offers more than 400 Foundation scholarship opportunities, generously provided by businesses, organizations, and individuals. Scholarships are available for students who are in good academic standing and have financial need. There are two deadlines: June 30 for the fall semester and January 1 for spring semester. 

Admitted students can apply for all MC Foundation scholarships by completing one online application through AcademicWorks. This online tool automatically matches you up with relevant scholarships. Go to the online application and use your MyMC login to begin the process.

Board of Trustees Student Tuition Grants – The College’s Board of Trustees established a tuition grant program to assist students with financial need, particularly those who qualify for little or no federal grant money. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress to continue receiving the grant. Applicants must follow the steps for applying for financial aid, must demonstrate academic potential, and must have financial need as defined by the college. 

Alumni Scholarships

Montgomery College Alumni Scholarships – Every year, the Alumni Association awards scholarships to sons and daughters of MC alumni. 

WDCE Scholarship Opportunities

From time to time Workforce Development and Continuing Education has scholarship opportunities. These scholarships are posted on the WDCE web site along with the specific terms and conditions of each scholarship. If you are interested in applying for one of the scholarship opportunities please pay close attention to the instructions, and be sure to include any necessary documentation, as incomplete applications are not considered. Programs for High School Students

Students currently enrolled in high school and taking classes at the College may apply for need-based grants. Students must be properly admitted to Montgomery College and accepted to take courses through MC’s Dual Enrollment program. Dual enrollment students are not eligible for federal financial aid but may apply for the Montgomery College High School Grant to cover portions of required tuition and fees
