Scholarships

We’re committed to making your academic adventure as affordable as possible. Each year, St. Lawrence University awards more than $70 million worth of gift aid — that is, financial assistance that does not have to be repaid, such as scholarships and grants.

Academic Merit Scholarships

When you apply to St. Lawrence University, you will automatically be considered for one of our academic merit scholarships based on your entire admissions application. This includes your academic record such as courses taken, grades earned, letters of recommendation, and standardized test scores (if submitted), as well as co-curricular activities, the essay, and an interview (if applicable). Competition varies each year depending on the applicant pool.

Your merit scholarship will remain constant each year for four years, provided you maintain the required minimum cumulative grade point average.

Augsbury/North Country Scholarship

Students can be nominated by their high school or nominate themselves. Additional Award Opportunities and Resources

In addition to our academic merit and specialty scholarships, there are a number of other resources you might consider looking into depending on your interests and eligibility.

Designed for high school juniors, the Book Award Scholarship program honors students who have distinguished themselves in their commitment to community service.

Students must be nominated by a high school teacher or counselor; recipients receive a select book, plus a $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 each year for four years) to attend St. Lawrence University.

Available directly from the U.S. Army or the U.S. Air Force, Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarships typically cover full tuition and provide a stipend and book allowance. Additionally, ROTC students may receive a St. Lawrence grant or scholarship to cover room and board.

Athletic scholarships at St. Lawrence University are available only for men and women’s ice hockey.

Under NCAA rules, athletic scholarships are strictly prohibited for Division III athletes; additionally, athletic involvement must not be a consideration for merit scholarships or need-based financial aid.

Outside of what’s available to you as an incoming St. Lawrence student, you may also wish to seek opportunities with local, community-based, or corporate- and foundation-supported scholarship programs.
