COTTEY SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS

Cottey College is proud to offer institutional aid on a limited basis as funding allows. Cottey offers a variety of scholarships based on academic merit, extracurricular activities, leadership and athletic performance. Funds are made possible by the generosity of Cottey College Alumnae, members of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and friends of the College. Acceptance of Cottey scholarships or grants as part of a financial aid package indicates permission to release the recipient’s name and address to the donors who fund the awards, to whom recipients are to write a thank you note. The Institutional Advancement Office will aid in this process as it is extremely important for donors to know their generosity is not only being utilized but also appreciated.

COTTEY COLLEGE AUTOMATIC ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

All admitted students will be considered for a range of merit scholarships.

To qualify, a student must have a minimum 2.6 cumulative GPA. Cottey is test optional (a standardized test score is not required for admission); however, if the student has a test score, the scholarship will be based on either GPA or ACT/SAT score (whichever is higher). For transfer students, the scholarship is based on GPA only.

Merit scholarships start at $8,000 and may go up to full tuition. Students will be informed of their award when they receive their admission decision or shortly afterwards.

Students must be enrolled full-time.

Awards are based on the highest test score or GPA received by March 1. Scholarships are renewable for four years with satisfactory academic progress. Institutional scholarships will not exceed the total cost of tuition.

 

FEDERAL & STATE OF MISSOURI GRANTS

Federal Pell Grant

To apply, submit the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov.  Amounts are determined by the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC), cost of attendance and enrollment status.

Pell Grants for Summer

Pell Grant eligible students can receive up to 150% of their scheduled Pell award each year.  If you were a Pell eligible student in fall and/or spring, you may qualify for a Pell Grant for the summer.  To be eligible for a summer Pell Grant, you must:

• Have completed a FAFSA for the award year preceding the summer term
• Be Pell Grant eligible
• Enroll in summer classes
• In most cases, there is a requirement to enroll at least half-time (6 + credits)
• Be maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress
• Have lifetime Pell Grant eligibility remaining – you can check your remaining eligibility by logging on to NSLDS using your FSA ID.  View your Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) on the Financial Aid Review Page.

Minimum Credits for Summer Pell Grant:

• If you enrolled full-time (12 + credits) and received the full-time Pell Grant for fall and spring, you must enroll at least half-time (6+ credits) in summer classes to receive a summer Pell Grant.
• If you enrolled part-time in fall or spring, there is no minimum credit requirement to receive a summer Pell Grant (unless required by your EFC). You can use the remainder of your annual Pell Grant amount during summer with no minimum credit requirement.

Pell Grant Amount Depends on Enrollment

• 12+ credits = 100% of the semester Pell Grant amount
• 9-11 credits = 75% of the semester Pell Grant amount
• 6-8 credits = 50% of the semester Pell Grant amount

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

Must have submitted the FAFSA. Limited funding is available. Awarded to students with exceptional financial need.

Missouri State Aid Programs

Access Missouri – For Missouri residents attending approved Missouri schools who have submitted the FAFSA by the February 1 priority deadline and have an EFC of $12,000 or less.

Bright Flight Scholarship – For students who have a composite score on the ACT or SAT in either the top 3% or in the top 4th and 5th percentiles of all Missouri students taking those tests.

Alumnae Scholarship
$1,500 per academic year to relatives of Cottey alumnae, whom attended a minimum of two consecutive semesters. Relatives include daughters, granddaughters, sisters, great-granddaughters, or nieces of Cottey alumnae.

Campus Visit Scholarship
Any high school senior or transfer student visiting campus will be eligible for a $1,500 annual scholarship for up to four years when they enroll at Cottey.

Cottey A+ Scholarship
A $1,000/year renewable scholarship awarded to accepted Missouri students who have completed the A+ program in high school. The A+ designation must be included on your final high school transcript.

Fine Art Scholarships
Fine Arts Scholarship Application

The requirements of Fine Arts scholarships vary by department. Students may not be able to meet the requirements of multiple scholarships, and thus may be asked to choose between scholarship options. Students are able to take classes and audition to participate in Fine Arts programs without a scholarship. Applications submitted without supporting documents will not be considered. Applicants must be accepted for admission to Cottey.

Honors & Awards
For returning students only, several scholarships are awarded each year at the Honors and Awards Convocation in May. Recipients are selected on the basis of outstanding achievement in various academic areas and/or campus activities.

Women in Science Scholarship
Cottey College is pleased to offer a science scholarship to incoming science majors due to a generous donation to the College. Up to ten $3,000/year scholarships will be awarded. Deadline to apply is February 1, but early applications are encouraged.

P.E.O. Scholarships
Local, state, district, or provincial scholarships awarded to students by the P.E.O. Sisterhood. A student does not need a P.E.O. affiliation to receive a P.E.O. scholarship. Each chapter establishes the criteria, the application procedures and deadlines. Amounts and deadlines vary. If you received a P.E.O. scholarship, be sure to send a thank-you note to let them know how much the scholarship is appreciated! Thank-you notes can be brought to Cottey’s Office of P.E.O. Relations for mailing.

P.E.O. state scholarship deadlines

International Peace Scholarship
A $6,250 scholarship from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Cottey nominates selected international students for this scholarship.

Cottey Need-Based Grants
These grants are available to qualified domestic and international students. Domestic students must submit the FAFSA to be considered. International students must submit the CSS Profile form. These grants are available on a limited basis as funding allows.
