Deadline for students who wish to apply for an Academic/Leadership Scholarship for spring semester is October 1. 
Students who are on an Academic/Leadership scholarship this semester DO NOT need to do an additional application for spring semester.
Applications will not be considered for approval without ALL required documentation listed on the application.

Scholarships

High School Senior Scholarship

The High School Senior Scholarships are designed to recognize students who have excelled in academics, leadership or technical education. Applicants must submit a completed scholarship application, admissions application, and an official high school transcript before the deadline of April 15.

Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Applications will be reviewed and awards made by the Reid State Technical College Scholarship Committee.

Community Scholarship

Qualifications:

  • New and Existing Credit and Non-credit students (dual enrollment excluded).
  • Students enrolled in any credit or non-credit program.
  • Non-credit tuition (tuition waiver) may be split for students enrolling in a non-credit program that requires only one course for registration.
  • Programs: (Credit) Welding, Practical Nursing, Health Sciences, Business Administration Technology, Cosmetology, Industrial Electronics/Electricity, Industrial Maintenance; (Non-credit) Commercial Truck Driving.

Scholarship Criteria:

  • The scholarship will apply to qualified students enrolling in courses up to 18 hours (9 paid hours). 
  • Students may be enrolled in a full-time or part-time capacity.
  • Students must adhere to the College’s Credit and Non-credit admissions policies for each program. 
  • Students enrolling in a credit based program must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Students must not be receiving an institutional scholarship or third-party billable aid source such as V.A. or WIOA, etc.
  • Scholarship covers tuition expenses only (fees not included)
  • Must qualify for in-state tuition.

The Sam Haskell Scholarship

Sam Haskell founded this annual scholarship with the understanding that many students do not have the financial means to further their education. Sam Haskell is an Emmy nominated producer and founder of Magnolia Hill Productions. He was formerly Worldwide Head of Television at the William Morris Agency and is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. Sam has been a lifelong patron for higher education and has helped many young people achieve their academic and professional goals.

The Sam Haskell Scholarship will award one high school senior, current college, or graduate student with a $1,000 scholarship.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Current high school senior with a college or university acceptance.
  • Current college or graduate student.
  • The essay and form below must be completed in order to be considered eligible for the scholarship.
  • The selected winner must provide proof of enrollment.

Institutional Scholarships

This program provides a partial or full tuition scholarship reusable annually for the duration of the program attempted, providing the student continues to maintain satisfactory academic progress, appropriate attitude and service to the college and the community at large.

Applications for scholarships are available to download at the link provided on this page.  Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, leadership, service and need.  Students are required to complete the application along with proof of FAFSA completion and transcripts of grades.  The deadline for Fall Enrollment is April 15 and the deadline for Spring Enrollment is October 1.

Eligibility:

The award of an Academic Scholarship requires the following:

  • A "B" average (3.00 GPA) during the 10th, 11th, and 1st semester of the 12th grade, or
  • A "B" average the previous semester as a full time enrolled student at RSTC and making good academic progress. These awards are not guaranteed not even before enrolling at RSTC.

The award of a Leadership Scholarship requires the following:

  • A C+ average (2.5 GPA) during the 10th, 11th, and the 1st semester of the 12th grade, or
  • A C+ average the previous semester as a full time enrolled student at RSTC and making good academic progress. The awards are not guaranteed not even before enrolling at RSTC.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities by occupy an active leadership position in high school or community, church, or civic organizations.
  • A currently enrolled student must occupy an active leadership position with student government (SGA, SGA representative, etc.
  • Must be willing to serve the college and community in the following ways:
  • Recruit in hometown areas
  • Participate in activity day
  • Participate in graduation
  • Attend the participate when needed, in awards/honors day
  • Participate in the Red Cross Blood Drive
  • Actively participate in other college and community activity as requested
  • Serve as a tutor to deserving students
