Jefferson Community and Technical College is proud to offer a variety of scholarships thanks to the generosity of the college, businesses, donors, and foundation organizations.

Here at Jefferson, we value education and want all students to take advantage of the scholarship opportunities that are available to them.

To qualify for most scholarships, please complete the 24-25 FAFSA application at studentaid.gov. *Financial need considered-means scholarship applicants must also complete the FAFSA application.

Thinking about starting college or going back to complete a degree? Jefferson Community and Technical College wants to help new students ages 21 or older jump-start their education and cover tuition for the upcoming Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. That’s up to 30 credit hours of free tuition!

The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship is available to students in eligible programs for up to four semesters who meet the following criteria:

  • Kentucky residents
  • Those with a high school diploma or students working on their GED.
  • Anyone without an associate degree or higher.

The Early Childhood Development Scholarship helps Kentuckians who work in daycares and preschool settings earn credentials, certificates, and degrees in the field of early childhood education.

A student must complete the FAFSA and the Early Childhood Development Scholarship application - Available by signing in to MyKHEAA and then navigating to the "Apply Online for Scholarships". To apply, please visit KHEAA.

The Xometry Scholarship includes full tuition plus $758 for incidental program expenses for machinist programs.

Requirements

Recipients of the scholarship must be enrolled in one of the programs listed below and maintain at least a 2.0. The scholarship pays for tuition and up to $758 in incidental expenses (must present receipt). No degree requirements or limitations.

Scholarship is being provided by Xometry. Xometry powers the industries of today and tomorrow by connecting the people with the big ideas to the manufacturers who can bring them to life. They have direct relationships with nearly 4,000 machine shops in the US and abroad.

Noyce Knights Scholars Program

Funded by the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Robert Noyce program, the Noyce Knights Scholars Program (NKSP) aims to prepare, support and certify 25 highly qualified diverse middle and high school (6-12) science and mathematics teachers over five years to remedy the 6-12 STEM teacher shortages in Kentucky.

NKSP will award Noyce scholarships/stipends to US Citizens, US Nationals, or US Permanent Residents to obtain teaching certification in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics via one of three certification pathways through Bellarmine University's Education Program.

Important Scholarship Information

  • Jefferson Foundation/Gift and KCTCS Scholarship application will open in January and close in March with dates posted on this website.  Students MUST have the scholarship application, all attachments, and the FAFSA (for Fall/Spring of the next academic year) submitted by the deadline to be considered for scholarships.
  • The Jefferson Scholarship Committee will meet in May to decide who will receive scholarships for the following Fall/Spring academic year. Awards will be posted, and notices will be sent to students by early July. 
  • Fall and Spring scholarships will be adjusted based on the number of credit hours students are enrolled.  The student must maintain the minimum eligibility criteria for the scholarship in each Fall and Spring semester to receive the scholarship.  
  • Failing to maintain the eligibility criteria of a scholarship will result in the scholarship being cancelled and given to another student. 
  • Jefferson Financial Aid Office will check for eligibility criteria and enrollment AFTER Fall or Spring census date.  If a student is not meeting the eligibility criteria of the scholarship or is not enrolled by the census date, the scholarship will be cancelled and given to another student.
  • Scholarships should disburse with Jefferson Financial Aid’s first disbursement date for Fall and Spring semesters. 
  • Scholarships can only be used at Jefferson Community and Technical College and are not transferable to any other college.

Dr. David Driscoll Memorial Scholarship

  • Applicants must submit an essay explaining their History-related career goals.
  • NOTE: Only intended for students who are interested in majoring in a History related field.

Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Horvath Academic Assistance Scholarship

  • Applicants must submit a one-page essay describing their need.
  • NOTE: Parent or grandparent must be a full-time JCTC employee or retiree.

George and Mary Lee Fischer Scholarship

Applicants must submit a 500-1000 word essay that provides:

  • A description of educational and career goals.
  • How this scholarship would help in their educational journey.
  • A description of financial need.

Gerald W. Stith Scholarship by Opal's Dream Foundation

  • Why the applicant chose their field of study.
  • A description of their career goals.
  • How this scholarship would help their educational journey.
  • A description of financial need.

Jefferson Jubilee Scholarship

Open to students enrolled in any area of study on any campus that have achieved and maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must submit a 500 word essay that addresses these four areas:

  1. Current area of study. 
  2. Explanation of education and career goals.
  3. Description of financial need.
  4. How this scholarship would help you personally.

Preference will be given to students not eligible for other financial assistance; however, all students meeting the criteria are encouraged to apply. Financial need considered.

Mary Frances Opatken Gregory Scholarship

  • Applicants are required to submit an essay describing their education/career goals and how this scholarship could assist in reaching these goals.

Mimi's Hope Scholarship

Applicants must submit a statement (essay) for review that provides the following:

  • Why the applicant chose their field of study.
  • A description of their career goals.
  • How this scholarship would help in their educational journey.
  • A description of their financial need.

  • Fine Arts majors only.
