About

The Cache Valley Home Builders Association (CVHBA) is an association of honest, skilled workers in the home building industry. CVHBA strives to promote and protect the home building industry, and it is their main goal to help support BTECH students become skilled laborers for the workforce by offering a minimum of two full ride scholarships to students currently in or considering entering the “Building Technology” program. These scholarships will cover all tuition, books and fees for selected students.

Dominion Energy provides education grants to develop the capacity of the future workforce, especially in STEM and energy fields.

Eligibility Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or have a confirmed start date in the Machining Technology program at Bridgerland Technical College.
• Recipient selected based on merit with emphasis on student’s aptitude and motivation to successfully complete training.
• The scholarship may be renewed so long as the recipient continues to demonstrate progress at a motivated rate.
• The recipient must maintain satisfactory progress and attendance.
• Must maintain a minimum enrollment of 15 hours per week.
• Must certify lawful presence in the US.

About

The Gene Haas Foundation offers scholarships that help build skills within the machining industry. In 1999 Gene Haas founded the Gene Haas Foundation. Growing up with a strong social conscience instilled by his family, Haas initially formed the foundation to fund the local community's needs. 

Haas is the owner of Haas Automation, Inc., America's leading builder of CNC machine tools, which he started in 1983. Haas Automation is now a billion-dollar company and the largest machine tool manufacturer in the United States. This extraordinary growth has all come in an era when American's were being told that the United States doesn't manufacture anything anymore. Those perceptions and decisions made in our education system regarding vocational education have led to dire statistics. A recent report called The Skills Gap in U.S. Manufacturing 2015 and Beyond projects that, "Over the next decade, nearly three and a half million manufacturing jobs will likely need to be filled, and the skills gap is expected to result in 2 million of those jobs going unfilled."

Gene's commitment to the importance of US manufacturing has incited him to grow his personal foundation and direct his foundation board to focus on manufacturing education in the form of scholarships for machinist training.

Eligibility Requirements

• Awarded to those that meet the diversity definition as set forth by BTECH.
  • Gender minority for the occupation selected (i.e. Male for Nursing/Medical Assisting, and Female for Paramedic, etc.)
  • Race/ethnicity other than Caucasian (African American, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, etc.)
  • Socioeconomic status as defined by the annual Health & Human Services Poverty Guidelines / Federal Poverty Levels as being at or below 250% level
  • Veterans
  • Sexual orientation (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning)
  • Disability that still meets physical/emotional requirements of program/occupation
  • Education status of undergraduate
  • First generation college student
• The recipient will be expected to meet all program requirements in accordance with Bridgerland Technical College policies.

The NORCO welding equipment company was started in Boise Idaho by the James Kissler family in 1968. NORCO is an industry leader focused on providing the finest in welding masks, welding gases, hard goods and safety equipment. They now serve not only private welding companies with needed supplies, they also work closely with educational institutions such as BTECH to provide educational support to students learning welding trades. While NORCO provides key welding equipment and updated supplies to college programs via partnerships, the Kissler Family has its own foundation that supports scholarships for these same NORCO educational partners.

NORCO Scholarships are available to BTECH’s Welding Technology program to encourage students to progress and specialize in welding skills for future employment. Through hands on, individualized instruction, students learn fundamentals in stick wire, and tig welding; blueprint reading; welding processes and applications a bid inspection. After completing your certification, job placement is near 100%.

• Recipient must demonstrate financial need

About

Mr. Ron Hansen was a 14 year plus, valued employee of GEM Buildings in Brigham City, Utah, where he was tragically taken via a work accident at the age of 62 in June of 2020. Ron was a master at working with his hands both in electrical work and with steel and metals. He loved working with the GEM family of employees and was a key mentor to many. As a graduate of Bridgerland Technical College, Ron had a special knack with automated manufacturing machinery and loved working with structural steel, and being involved in the Design/Build fabrication process throughout his many years with GEM Buildings. Ron was a lifelong learner and enhanced his education by taking electrician courses that were invaluable in his daily work for GEM.

In honor of his exemplary life and friendship to all, and to encourage all students interested in the automated manufacturing and building processes, Ron’s family and friends, in partnership with GEM Buildings, would like to provide scholarships to selected students at Bridgerland Technical College. Both graduating high school seniors and adult learners are eligible to apply for annual scholarships for Automated Manufacturing, Electronic Engineering Technology or Apprentice Electrician programs at Bridgerland Technical College. Preference will be given to students from Box Elder and Cache Counties. Ron and his wife Marie raised their four children in Box Elder County schools.

Stan and Judith Meyrick have long been advocates for students, whether it is in the field of Special Education or for students who wish to become health care professionals. Judith has become one of the biggest proponents for technical education, recognizing that students can obtain a certificate and a career in both less time and cost. The Meyrick scholarship is available to students pursuing a high wage/high demand career in Practical Nursing.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicant does not have an associates or higher postsecondary degree.
• Applicant demonstrates financial need.
• Applicant must be a Utah Resident.
• Enrolls in an institution.
• Accepts all other grants, tuition or fee waivers, and scholarships offered to the individual to attend the institution in which they are enrolled.
• Committed to maintain exceptional standards of progress and attendance throughout enrollment.
• Committed to consistently and continuously maintain enrollment of 12 hours per week or more.

Award: Amount between $500 - $1000

Eligibility Requirements

• Enrolled or prepared for enrollment in the Automotive Service and the Automotive Service II program.

• Recipient must submit plans following completion of certificate in the application
