Are there scholarships for two-year college students?

QUESTION: I’ve been looking for scholarships, and a lot are for students going to a four-year college. I’m going to a two-year college. Are there any scholarships for me? Signed, Seeking

Dear Seeking: Whether you’re going to college for two, four or even six years, you can use some help paying for your education. While some scholarship organizations limit their awards to students attending four-year colleges, many are open to students attending two-year colleges.

There are national awards open to students at two-year colleges. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation offers a scholarship program for two-year college students. You can find out more information at www.coca-colascholars.org. USA Today also sponsors an award for two-year college students. Get more information at http://allstars.usatoday.com. Don’t forget to check with your college’s financial aid office as well as with organizations in your local community.

As you are looking remember that if the criteria for the awards don’t limit who can apply, then you are most likely eligible. Don’t rule yourself out before the competition begins.
