Are there scholarships for psychology students?

QUESTION: I am on a mission to find scholarships. I have done some research, but I can't seem to find anything that is really for me. I want to major in psychology. There has to be something out there for me. Signed, Psychology Help

Dear Help: There are awards for students like you studying psychology, if you're a little patient. While many of them are for college and graduate students, it's not too early to begin thinking about the research that you could conduct to apply for the awards.

Psi Chi, The National Honor Society in Psychology, offers awards for undergraduate research. Get more information at www.psichi.org or by calling (423) 756-2044.

The American Psychological Association (APA) provides a nine-day, all-expense paid summer program to "immerse" students in the science of psychology. College freshmen and sophomores may apply for the Summer Science Institute (SSI). For more information, contact the APA at (202) 336-5500 or visit its Web site at www.apa.org.

And, the American Psychological Society awards its Student Grant Program to sponsor undergraduate and graduate research. Learn more at the society's Web site at www.psychologicalscience.org.
