Originally established in 2007, the Women on Par scholarship provides financial assistance for three to four, “non-traditional” female students, over the age of 30,  pursuing higher education for the first time, with the intention of helping women get “on par” with their peers through the opportunities a college degree provides. Winners are selected based on need, personal and professional goals, and their personal stories.

In 2022 the funds for recipients of the Women on Par more than doubled thanks to the contributions of donors and the LPGA Amateurs Virtual Scramble. Congratulations to the 2023 scholarship recipients: Emily Reynolds (Healthcare Administration), Olga Golding (International Business), Thi Pham (Psychology), and Savannah Ford (Family Studies, Psychology, Bible and Theology). The 2023 recipients join the 30+ women who have been awarded the scholarship, earning $4,000, $2000, $1,000, and $500 respectively to help them achieve their career goals.

About the Scholarship

The “Women on Par” Scholarship Program, provided by the LPGA Foundation, was established in 2007 by the EWGA Foundation (now the LPGA Amateur Golf Association™) to provide financial assistance to “non-traditional” female students. These scholarships are intended for women, aged 30 and older, who are attending a college or university for the first time or returning to school after an absence to complete their technical/vocational, Associate, or Bachelor’s degree. The scholarships are designed to help these women get “on par,” or get an equal footing, with their peers, friends, and other women who have had a chance to complete their college education.

In 2021, two scholarships were awarded totaling $3,000. In 2022, the scholarship total more than doubled to $7,000 for three recipients.

In 2019, the LPGA unveiled its new brand positioning and tag line – Drive On.  Drive On builds on the LPGA’s history and heritage and is designed to show its commitment to diversity, inclusion, individuality and authenticity. It is about the power and potential in each individual and celebrates the hard work, focus, and tenacity that it takes to achieve our goals. As applicants submit their application for the scholarship, they should consider sharing how they overcame obstacles in life and achieved their goals.

Impact of the Scholarship

Since its inception, the scholarship program has helped over 30 women realize their dreams of obtaining their degree.

"Winning the Women on Par Scholarship impacted me in several ways. It challenged me to continue to pursue my dreams of becoming a teacher. It encouraged me to pay it forward by founding a small group to assist single/divorced mothers who are pursuing higher education. And most importantly, it instilled a desire into my daughters to continue to reach their goals no matter the circumstances and/or obstacles." - CaMeisha Brown, 2018 recipient
