The Chevron Changing the Face of Golf Scholarship will be awarded through the LPGA Foundation as part of Chevron’s commitment through the LPGA Foundation Giving Circle. Established in 2022, Chevron will offer this scholarship opportunity for female high school seniors of minority background pursuing a full-time, STEM-focused course of study at an accredited college or university in the United States. Through this effort, the LPGA Foundation will further its commitment to Change the Face of Golf and increase opportunities for young women to obtain a college education. For this particular Scholarship process, Five (5) $2,500 scholarships will be awarded in the Spring of 2024 and will be available for renewal for four years of undergraduate studies ($10,000 total). This amounts to seven total scholarships presented by Chevron including the two Dinah Shore Chevron Scholarships. The application process will open in the Fall of 2023.

Qualifications to apply for the scholarship include being a high school senior at the time of application, strong academics, community service and letters of recommendations.

The Chevron Dinah Shore Scholarship was established in 1994 by the LPGA Foundation to honor the late Dinah Shore, a graduate of Vanderbilt University, a Hollywood entertainer, and an honorary member of the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame. This Scholarship also helps preserve her legacy, as an advocate for women’s golf, co-founder of The Chevron Championship and honorary member of the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame.
The Chevron Dinah Shore Scholarship is granted annually to female high school seniors who are pursuing a college education, but will not be playing collegiate golf. In an effort to preserve the legacy of Dinah Shore and her contributions to women's golf, Chevron is offering two (2) $2,500 scholarships will be awarded per year renewable over 4 years ($10,000 total for each recipient). This amounts to seven total scholarships including the five Chevron Changing the Face of the Game Scholarships.

The Renee Powell Scholarship will be awarded through The LPGA Foundation and the LPGA Renee Powell Fund. Established in 2022, the Renee Powell Scholarship will provide financial aid to female, Black or African American, high school seniors pursuing a full-time course of study and playing collegiate golf at an accredited college or university in the United States. Through this effort, The LPGA Foundation will further its commitment to Change the Face of Golf and create opportunities for Black or African American girls to pursue their dreams. Two (2) $5,000 scholarships will be awarded in the Spring of 2024.
About Renee Powell
Renee Powell is an American professional golfer who played on the US-based LPGA Tour and is currently head professional at her family’s Clearview Golf Club, the only course designed, built, owned and operated by an African-American. The daughter of golf course entrepreneur Bill Powell, Renee grew up in Ohio and took up golf at an early age. As the second Black player on the LPGA Tour, Renee has dedicated her career to increasing diversity in golf. She is Renee is a true trailblazer and beloved global ambassador for golf.
Awarding the Renee Powell Scholarship
Thanks to the support of the #HoodieForGolf campaign, led by Michelle Wie West to raise funds for two important initiatives honoring Renee Powell – the LPGA Foundation and Clearview Golf Club. As part of this initiative, the LPGA Foundation designated funds toward the newly established Renee Powell Scholarship. The goal of the Renee Powell Scholarship is to boost representation of Black girls within the collegiate golf space. Qualifications to apply for the scholarship include strong academics, community service and letters of recommendations.

The Marilynn Smith Scholarship is granted annually through The LPGA Foundation and the Marilynn Smith Scholarship Fund. Established in 1999 by Marilynn with the proceeds of a golf tournament she organized, the objective of the Marilynn Smith Scholarship is to provide a scholarship to a female high school senior who has played golf in high school or in her community and is planning to play golf at an accredited college or university in the United States. Twenty five $5,000 scholarships were awarded in 2023.

The Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is granted annually through The LPGA Foundation and the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship Fund. Established in 2006, the objective of the Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship is to provide a need-based scholarship to a female high school senior from a recognized minority background who will be pursuing a full-time course of study and playing collegiate golf at an accredited college or university in the United States.

Qualifications for all scholarships include strong academic programs, community service and recommendations. Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2024.
Phyllis Galloway Meekins was a Professional, member of the LPGA Teaching Professionals Northeast Section Teaching Division, Founder of Phyllis G. Meekins Golf Clinics,Inc. (PGM) 1973.
Born in Orange, Virginia, served in the Women's Army Corp . (1942-44) during World War II in the European theater of operations with the 6888 Postal Service Unit . She was later educated at Virginia State College, and self improvement courses at Community College and Drexel University. Golf education was received at Stevens University and Dartmouth College through the National Golf Foundation; and at Pine Needles, South Carolina under the tutelage of Peggy Kirk Bell . In 1951 she married Frank R. Meekins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and through their union, have one daughter, Denise Sarita Meekins-McBride, and two grandchildren, Jerrel and Jeremy .
Mrs. Meekins spent over 25 years as a public servant with the Federal government where her diligent service earned her many commendations. It was during her tenure with the government when she single-handedly organized the PGM Golf Clinics, Inc., the first and only such program known to date in the Delaware Valley that facilitates youth golfing activity year round. The space for operation was donated by Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania .
In 1980, Mrs. Meekins extended the youth program to include a full six-week junior golf summer day camp conducted at the beautiful Freeway Golf Course in Sicklerville, New Jersey . PGM later extended the program to include adults, Special Population and Special Olympics .
In addition to her achievements in golf, Mrs . Meekins is recognized for her involvement in community-based and women ' s organizations . She is a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania , where she serves on the Darcus Guild .She is a member of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Coalition of 100Black Women . She is dedicated to fostering equal rights and opportunities to Blacks, promoting the awareness of African American culture, and speaking out on specific issues of local, state, national and international importance affecting women and children . Mrs . Meekins is a member of Soroptimist International, Five Points Magneta Club (SI) .She was appointed in 1988 Coordinator of the Northeast Section Girl Scout Junior Golf Program .Other accolades received by Mrs. Meekins include the National Golf Foundation Outstanding Service Award ; the Frederick Douglass Political Club Community Service Award; the Department of Health, Education and Welfare Community Service Award; placement in the Urban League of Philadelphia's Century IV Exhibit at the Afro American Historical and Cultural Museum; Schlitz Brewery Athletic
Award; and a commendation from the Philadelphia Park Commission for organizing and sponsoring the City's first Golf Tournament that included all skill levels for the Bicentennial Year 1976 . Mrs. Meekins was inducted into the Afro American Golfers Hall of Fame in 1984 . Mrs . Meekins has received numerous other awards for tournament play, community service and professional achievement . In addition, her program has been used as a prototype for others.

Goldie Bateson was considered a pioneer in the field of women’s golf instruction and became the first female head golf professional in the state of Wisconsin. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was honored as LPGA Teacher of the Year and received LPGA’s Ellen Griffin Rolex Award, the National Golf Foundation’s (NGF) Outstanding Service Award, was named Honorary Golf Consultant with the NGF, and was inducted into the Wisconsin State Hall of Fame.
The Goldie Bateson Scholarship is an initiative of the LPGA Professionals Midwest Section membership and is awarded to junior golfers between the ages of 7 and 17 who have an interest in learning and playing the game of golf. Ten $250 scholarships will be awarded in 2023.
Eligible candidates must reside within one of the following LPGA Professionals Midwest Section States: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama.

The “Women on Par” Scholarship Program, provided by the LPGA Foundation, was established in 2007 by the EWGA Foundation (now the LPGA Amateur Golf Association™) to provide financial assistance to “non-traditional” female students. These scholarships are intended for women, aged 30 and older, who are attending a college or university for the first time or returning to school after an absence to complete their technical/vocational, Associate, or Bachelor’s degree. The scholarships are designed to help these women get “on par,” or get an equal footing, with their peers, friends, and other women who have had a chance to complete their college education.

The LPGA Foundation is honoring the life and legacy of Dana’s commitment to the sport of golf by establishing the Dana Rader Leadership Fund. This fund will provide grants to LPGA members who demonstrate leadership potential and financial needs.
Dana was a long-time, passionate leader in the LPGA's industry-leading National Education Program, and spoke often of the importance of ongoing learning for golf instructors. This fund, established in her name, assists those who seek to expand their professional education while honoring one of the organization's most revered past leaders.

About Dana Rader
After gaining her Golf Professional status in 1980, Rader started as an Assistant Professional at Myers Park Country Club. In 1987, when she opened the Dana Rader Golf School, one of the most renowned in the golf world, she instructed over 17,000 students of all ages and skill levels, including over 500 juniors—a passion for Rader. It was named a Golf Channel Academy and was the only one with such a prestigious designation in the Carolinas.
In 2016, she was inducted into the LPGA Teaching and Coaching Professionals Hall of Fame. In addition, she earned other awards, including the Nike Outstanding Achievement in Teaching Award (2014), Ellen Griffin Rolex Award (2015), and achieved Emeritus Status in Golf Magazine's Top 100 Teachers in America (2019). Golf Digest also recognized Rader as one of the Top 50 Teachers in America and was ranked as No. 1 in South Carolina in Golf Digest's "Best in the State." She earned the prestigious Nancy Lopez Golf Achievement Award in 2020, which recognizes the LPGA Professional who emulates qualities valued by Lopez: Leadership, Passion, Giving, and Approachability.
Building a business is gratifying; awards and honors are flattering. But touching a life in a real and lasting way is invaluable. That was Dana Rader’s gift. She really was one in a million.

The Marge Burns Education Grant is available for LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals and is awarded to assist with the expenses of attending LPGA Certification Programs. Established with a bequest from Marge Burns, the grant recognizes the importance of LPGA Certification and Continuing Education for LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals.
Grant Applicants must be an Approved Applicant or an LPGA Apprentice or Class B LPGA Professionals member in good standing.
The Renee Powell Education Grants will be awarded through the LPGA Foundation and the LPGA Renee Powell Fund. Established in 2022, the Renee Powell Education Grants will provide financial aid to female, African American, LPGA Professionals going through the LPGA certification process. For over 60 years, the LPGA has developed and enhanced golf education for teachers, coaches, and leaders of the game of golf. The LPGA Teacher Education Program has become the most comprehensive and dynamic golf education series in the industry.
Through this initiative the LPGA Foundation and LPGA Professionals will further their commitment to Changing the Face of Golf and increasing opportunities for African American women to pursue careers in the golf industry.
Awarding the Renee Powell Education Grants
Grants will be awarded on a trimester basis to assist with the costs of attending LPGA Certification Programs. Below are examples of expenses the Renee Powell Education Grant would cover:
- LPGA Professionals Membership application fee
- Level 1 registration fee
- Level 2 registration fee
- Level 2 video class registration fee
- Level 3 registration fee
- Level 3 travel stipend (approx. $800)
The amount awarded is at the sole discretion of the LPGA Foundation based on the information provided in the application. Prospective recipients should only apply if they meet the criteria. Grants must be used within the year it is awarded. Exception, grants awarded in the 3rd selection may be used the following year.

In memory of the late Dr. Dede Owens, the LPGA Foundation established the Dr. Dede Owens LPGA Golf Education and Research Fund. Owens, who was one of the country's leading teachers, a past national president of the LPGA T&CP membership, and a 2001 inductee into the LPGA T&CP Hall of Fame, was actively involved in teacher education and developing teaching guidelines for individuals with disabilities. The fund supports ongoing LPGA golf education and research projects, with which Owens was involved, as well as the future development of LPGA golf education, teacher education, and golf research initiatives.
The fund also has several ongoing projects, including golf education publications, the development and implementation of the LPGA Teacher Education Program for Accessible Golf, and teaching research.
